Frequently Asked Questions

During onboarding, Spike AI will request Screen Time access through Apple's Family Controls prompt. You can also grant it later from the Focus tab. This permission is required for Focus, Lock-In, and Sweat modes to block apps. If the prompt doesn't appear, go to iOS Settings > Screen Time > App & Website Activity and make sure Screen Time is turned on, then return to Spike AI and try again.
Yes. Go to the Focus tab, select a mode, and tap the app selection area to update which apps, categories, or web domains are included. Changes take effect immediately. You can have different app selections for each focus mode.
Sweat Mode uses your device's camera and Apple's Vision framework for on-device body pose detection. When you try to open a blocked app, you'll be prompted to do push-ups or stand-ups. Each verified rep earns 1 minute of temporary access, up to 5 reps per session and 15 minutes total. No video is recorded, uploaded, or stored — all processing happens entirely on your device. For best results, place your device at arm's length with good lighting and ensure your full upper body is visible.
Detection quality depends on several factors:
  • Make sure you have good, even lighting — avoid strong backlighting or dim rooms.
  • Position your device so your full upper body (at minimum) is visible in the camera frame.
  • Place the device at a stable position at roughly arm's length, angled to capture your movement.
  • Wear clothing that contrasts with your background so the pose detection can identify your joints.
  • Perform the exercise with a clear range of motion — full extension and contraction.
If the issue persists, try restarting the app or switching to a different focus mode temporarily.
  • Chill Mode (Light): Gentle daily reminders and motivational nudges. No app blocking — just friendly notifications to keep you on track.
  • Focus Mode (Medium): Adds friction with "Are you sure?" confirmation prompts when you try to open distracting apps. Apps aren't fully blocked, but you must confirm your intent.
  • Lock-In Mode (Hard): Full app blocking with no bypass. Selected apps are completely inaccessible until you deactivate the mode in Spike AI.
  • Sweat Mode: Apps are blocked, but you can earn temporary access by doing push-ups or stand-ups detected by your camera.
Go to the Profile tab, scroll down, and tap "Delete Account." This permanently removes your authentication account and all associated data from our servers, including tasks, goals, focus records, progress summaries, and profile information. This action cannot be undone. You can also email us at spikeaihelp@gmail.com for assistance with account deletion.
Spike AI collects your email address and optional display name for authentication, plus the tasks, goals, focus sessions, and progress data you create in the app. We do not collect location, contacts, browsing history, or health data. We do not use any analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or third-party trackers. Camera data in Sweat Mode is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Spike AI is available in 24 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Uzbek, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish, Italian, Polish, Ukrainian, Dutch, Swedish, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, Malay, Tajik, and Kazakh. You can change the language during onboarding or from your profile settings at any time.
Each week, you can generate a personalized progress summary from the Progress tab. The summary analyzes your task completion rates, focus session history, streak data, and screen time trends to provide insights, highlight wins, and suggest next steps. The summary is generated server-side and stored in your account. It's designed for personal reflection — not as professional or medical advice.
Yes. Spike AI caches your tasks, goals, and profile data locally on your device. You can view and complete tasks, toggle focus modes, and use core features while offline. Changes are automatically synced to the server when your device reconnects to the internet. Operations that fail offline are queued and retried automatically.
Live Activity shows your daily goal progress, current streak, and motivational messages directly on your Lock Screen. It updates in real time as you complete tasks. You can enable or disable Live Activity from your Profile settings in the app.
Yes. Spike AI is completely free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or premium features. All focus modes, task management, AI summaries, and progress tracking are available to every user at no cost.
Spike AI is currently available for iPhone only. iPad support is not part of the initial release, but we may expand to additional Apple platforms in the future once the experience has been tuned for those device classes.
